Johns Hopkins Static Base Tower Crane Rental

Powering Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus

United Crane & Rigging enjoys working on projects that benefit the local community and economy. The Johns Hopkins Homewood Power Plant is one such project.

The facility is responsible for providing electricity, heating, and cooling to the Homewood campus in central Baltimore City. For the multi-year facility upgrade, UCR installed our Potain MDT 310B tower crane to reach and service all areas of the jobsite.

An Education in Configuration

With a maximum capacity of 26,244 lbs. (5,440 lb. capacity at tip) and a freestanding height of 177 ft., the MDT 310B was configured with a static base and installed outside the power plant on the adjacent street. This static base configuration negated the need to excavate and build a concrete in-ground base, which would take up more room and require additional counterweight.
